where the bling comes from

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

this is where i work. isn’t it scary cool and awesome. it’s like a scene from a comic book or something, i’m just waiting for that guy to pop out from behind the shadows.

soon a whole evening will be spent walking around and photographing this building from various viewpoints. la la la.

but yeah, it’s totally scary and goth. there’s only one thing that would make this building more cool and that’s gargoyles. could you even imagine? like if there were 10 of them perched way up high overlooking bellingham (gotham).

more to come……

the snow capped mountains have looked so beautiful lately. whoa!

been a whirlwind of events and things going on the past few days. sorry i’ve been away. i’m back though, if only for a little while.

finally got to peak at a book that i’d been looking forward to. dang, it was a mix of feelings. inspirational as always, but all the same stuff with different words. disappointing and left a sour taste.

wake.

the grain that runs inside of trees has knots where limbs grow. wha? that’s right.

in this busy iphoned world of crazies in a hurry it’s rare to get an envelope full of (real) prints and a letter.

thank you dan, it totally made my day.

big ups

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

i’m very pleased to announce that a few of my college colleagues did very well at this year’s college photographer of the year competition.

lane got third place in portfolio. which is so awesomely huge and amazing. i can’t tell you how happy i am for her. it was also nice to finally get to see all of her work from jasper. she also got an award of excellence in feature. snap!

jason also did spectacularly well. he won first place in domestic picture story. this is crazy amazing because he shot the story in like 2 or 3 visits if i remember correctly. wow. damn. it’s a beautiful story and shows crazy potential on his part. imagine.

check out lane’s work here. and jason’s here.

other friends and acquaintances did awesome too! tim gruber rocked it (like always) congrats tim. marcus yam did well (like i knew he would). matt eich (of course, he’s so amazing and inspiring and humble). josh birnbaum (seriously smart and cool dude, i guess you’re at ohio now josh?)

wow, these folks are seriously inspiring. look them up, google their names. they are the future. amazing. these names aren’t going away. the crazy thing when i think of these people is that i can only think of how hard they work.

comet

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

this is a santa hat in the passenger seat of a mercury comet. i’ve always loved those cars for some reason.

i just wrote a long, coffee-fueled letter to a friend. hi a! i’m tired and writing is exhausting but so gratifying at the same time.

seriously, i could write for probably ten hours a day. just give me an open window and a gray sky. i’ll go on forever. i have to be reading though in order to write.

hopefully this vintage book store is open today. i really need a dictionary, my spelling is so atrocious (misspelled on first try).

been working on this song. over thinking a song would be the correct way of putting it. got the music down and i like it, but the words are what’s taking so long. i’ll for sure post the words when i’m done, and maybe a garage band version of the music (whether i’m singing or not is to be determined).

bye, smile, please be hopeful.

a waterless ocean

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

rain is falling here quite often. it’s a steady rain. every now and then the sun will show it’s lovely face when the clouds break. they rarely break though.

it’s like some controlling force from above (brain) takes control of the weather (life) and then rains on the flowers in bloom (heart).

it’s the rain though that makes you appreciate the sun and for that we must be grateful for it. if there is no bottom then there is no top. goals. maybe, i don’t know if i believe in goals. seems kind of limiting.
